Response: All Woven Together - Call For Artists

Calling filmmakers and visual storytellers! This is an opportunity to create a video work through exploratory workshops with contemporary Indigenous artists. Inspired by diverse approaches to expression across contemporary Indigenous film and media, Response: All Woven Together broadly considers the relationships we hold and the strength, reciprocity, and care that can be derived from them.

Workshops will take place primarily online during Summer 2023, helping participants create original work that will be shown at The Polygon Gallery, North Vancouver in early 2024. Facilitators include Caleb Ellison-Dysart, Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐊᐧᐣ, Colin Van Loon, and Peter Morin.

Don’t worry if you don’t have tons of experience—if you’re a beginner, let us know! We want to hear from you about why you’re interested in the topic “All Woven Together”, and why you’re excited to learn from Indigenous artists and Knowledge Holders.

This program is free, and participants will receive a smartphone tripod upon acceptance, and a $500 honorarium upon completion of the program.

Participants will need a stable internet connection to participate in workshops, as well as a device that shoots video. Cell phone cameras are welcome.

The Polygon encourages applications from BC-residents with an interest or practice in visual/media arts. Priority is reserved for emerging artists and Indigenous participants. We thank all who express interest in this opportunity.

To apply, please fill out the online submission form here.
