Job Opportunity: Graphic Designer
The application period for this position is now closed
Grounded in photography, The Polygon Gallery creates space to challenge how we see the world. It is committed to a culture that is curious, bold, and generous. Operating for over 45 years, the organization has produced over 300 exhibitions and numerous publications, earning a reputation as an adventurous public art institution.
The organization now seeks a Graphic Designer to join its team. Reporting to the Audain Chief Curator and working closely with the Marketing Manager, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for executing visually stunning designs for a variety of Gallery projects, including print and digital exhibitions materials, as well as fundraising and marketing campaigns.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Design print (ads, brochures, posters, postcards, proposals, reports, signage) and digital (website templates, online ads, social media graphics, email marketing templates) collateral for all departments of The Polygon Gallery;
2. Ensure consistency in design work across all company platforms;
3. Communicate and reinforce brand standards across all departments;
4. Manage pre- and post-production, ensuring high quality printing and timely delivery of all printed materials;
5. Design and coordinate the Annual Report.
The successful candidate will have education and/or professional experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant digital and print work. Strong competency in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) is required, as is social media fluency and overall tech-savviness. Also important is the ability to manage multiple projects, objectives, and deadlines; the desire to contribute to a small office environment, which requires being proactive and willing to wear many hats; and meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of video editing software (Premiere, Davinci Resolve, After Effects), experience using a CMS (WordPress); experience using email marketing systems (MailChimp); photography skills; and knowledge of contemporary art are all definite assets.
The Graphic Designer will work 24 hours (3 days) a week, and will earn $42,000 per year. All salaried Polygon employees earn a living wage as specified by Living Wage Canada. The Polygon provides sufficient accommodations in work arrangements to ensure that employees are able to accomplish their work while maintaining healthy lives with personal obligations and passions outside of their careers. We encourage applications from candidates with a broad range of backgrounds, including age, race, ethnicity, indigeneity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, class, and ability.
To apply, please send a resume, cover letter, and three samples of design work to Michael Mann at email@example.com. Interviews with qualified candidates will begin the week of March 20, 2023. Position will be posted until filled. Only those invited for an interview will be contacted.
