As We Rise: Photography from the Black Atlantic is on view at The Polygon February 24 – May 14.

About the Exhibition
As We Rise: Photography from the Black Atlantic celebrates Black life in its myriad forms, drawing from cultures around the Atlantic to illustrate a polyphonic sense of community and family. Photographs from some of history’s most influential photographers and most iconic contemporary artists will be on view, including work by Gordon Parks, Malick Sidibé, Carrie Mae Weems, Kehinde Wiley, Texas Isaiah, and more.

This international touring exhibition is drawn entirely from the Wedge Collection, as featured in Aperture’s recently published book. The Wedge Collection was established by Dr. Kenneth Montague in 1997 and is Canada’s largest privately owned collection committed to championing Black artists.
