Opening Reception: Without A Word

Free parking is available at the ICBC parkade, adjacent to Lonsdale Quay Market after 6pm and on weekends.

Related exhibition: Without A Word

without a word speaks to a widely shared experience of having one’s picture taken without formal permission, and to the evocative power of stolen encounters that might reveal more about identity than might ever be found in a formally posed portrait. This remarkable, yet unknown, collection of portrait photographs comes from the private collection of Bill Wu, representing many acclaimed twentieth-century artists including Berenice Abbott, Robert Doisneau, Walker Evans, Graciela Iturbide, and Mary Ellen Mark.

Please join us for an opening reception on Sunday, September 22 at 1pm.
Opening remarks at 1:30pm.
