Job Opportunity: Editor

This job posting is now closed

The Polygon Gallery is seeking an editor to lead the production of a multimedia digital space, Parallelogram. Working with The Polygon’s curatorial team, you will lead project management and delivery; assist in initiating, coordinating, and realizing content in visual, text, and audio formats; make thematic links between content on the interactive site; and collaborate on the design of the site.

Parallelogram is an online platform expanding on The Polygon’s artistic program. Encompassing text, images, sound, and other media developed specifically for the interactive site, Parallelogram takes diverse and exploratory approaches to the notion of “presence”: what it means to situate oneself, assert agency, and hold space.

You will have:
• knowledge of contemporary art, media, writing;
• understanding of current cultural discourses;
• experience working with artists, writers, or content from underrepresented groups;
• ability to facilitate collaboration with Gallery staff and a variety of cultural producers;
• editorial, publishing, writing, and text management skills;
• initiative, vision, attention to detail, and administrative proficiency.

Experience working with web design and development would be an asset. The editor will attend meetings as required, and can operate in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid work model.

Application review will begin May 6
Anticipated start date May 30
Temporary contract: $17,000 – $20,000
Delivery within 2022
