Design + Make X The Polygon

The Polygon and Emily Carr University of Art + Design present Design + Make, a collaborative project between the Gallery and students of the Industrial Design program.

In this course lead by Associate Professor Christian Blyt, students were tasked to design and make products that fit comfortably in the homes of patrons and visitors of The Polygon who are known for their unique collection of handmade, local items. Materials were to be primarily wood, and a budget was set to cater to a retail price of $85 or less.

Major themes of this project included concept development, strategizing and implementing small patch production, and developing a cohesive brand identity including the packaging. Using these skills, the design teams created marketing plans to guide them towards the sale of their final products.

All these limited series products will be available for purchase in a pop-up store from Thursday, April 18-25th.
