About Silke Schmickl
Silke Schmickl is the CHANEL Senior Curator, Head of Moving Image at M+ in Hong Kong. She was previously curator at the National Gallery Singapore and the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore, a researcher at the German Center for Art History in Paris, and the co-founding director of Lowave, a Paris-based curatorial platform and publishing house for moving image artists.
In her contribution to the major monograph Greg Girard: Photographs 1972 - 2026 (The Polygon Gallery and Magenta Foundation, 2026), she writes about her collaborations with Greg Girard for M+: a monumental slide projection on the museum’s façade based on Girard’s photobook HK:PM, and the live cinema work, Hong Kong Made Me, scored by the punk band Gong Gong Gong.
