About Michael Unger
Michael Unger recently stepped into the role of Director of Programming at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, building on nearly ten years of experience as the organization’s Program Coordinator. Over the years, he’s helped shape a wide range of engaging, innovative programs, drawing on a background that includes work with the Science Fair Foundation of BC and Nerd Nite Vancouver.

Now, as he leads a team of passionate science communicators, Michael is focused on creating programming that connects the past with the future—and science with culture. A key part of this approach involves weaving in cultural perspectives on astronomy, including new initiatives that spotlight Indigenous knowledge systems, reflect on the history and meaning of the Sen̓áḵw lands, and explore diverse stories of the cosmos.

With Michael at the helm, the Space Centre continues its work of inspiring curiosity and connection through programs that honour the land, its stories, and the power of science to transform how we see the world—and our place in it.
