About Modes
MODES is a place for video art, the experimental, the avant-garde, and new interpretations of screen-based work. Concerned with play of form and prioritizing substance of content, while still embracing art for art’s sake, this series is intended as a disruption of norms and respectfully challenges the viewer to submit to the artist.
In Programme 1 the veracity of history is made visible, audible, and tangible. Embodying the principle of “Art as modes of truth production,” strap in for a sensory examination of the varying forms of aggression enacted by those with power as a means of dominance. Programme 2 explores themes of freedom and control, chaos and systematization. With indelible nuance and care, these works defy categorization, break binaries, and tempt us to adopt a gaze of love, or resistance; defiantly, also an act of love.
