Job Opportunity: Event Liaison
Located in the heart of the Shipyards District on Vancouver’s North Shore, The Polygon Gallery is a vibrant art institution with a focus on photography and related media. The Polygon also operates a highly sought after venue rentals program, offering both daytime and evening event packages in beautiful contemporary spaces with stunning views over Burrard Inlet. As a not-for-profit public gallery, all venue rental revenues directly fund the Gallery’s groundbreaking exhibitions and programs.
The Polygon Gallery is currently seeking Event Liaisons to join our event team. Reporting to the Event Sales Manager & Events Coordinator, Event Liaisons are responsible for executing all on-site events as ambassadors of the gallery while providing exceptional customer service to both the clients and vendors onsite.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Communicating with event planners, caterers, and vendors on-site while executing events successfully on behalf of The Polygon Gallery in a professional manner
· Protecting the facility by ensuring all Polygon Gallery event guidelines and policies are followed
· Setting up and striking event spaces with appropriate furniture according to floorplans provided (lifting required)
· Preparation, including light cleaning, of event spaces prior to and post event
· Ensuring the client is satisfied and assist them wherever possible during the event execution
· Filling out the Event Log following each event and following the Event Checklist as provided by the Event Sales Manager & Events Coordinator
Qualifications
· Successful candidates will have, at minimum, a high school diploma. They will have at least 2 years of proven experience in events or hospitality environment
· Excellent oral communication is required, as are strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and with diverse audiences
· Ability to lift heavy items such as tables, chairs, boxes, stages and work a flexible schedule (including very late evenings) required
· Fluency in a second language is highly desirable
Applicants will be available and prepared to work a minimum of three events per calendar month, have flexibility to support daytime or evening events (ranging from 6am starts to 2am closes, overtime pay provided), and weekends. The job requires extended periods of standing.
This is a casual position that pays $24.70 / hour.
