The Polygon is pleased to offer an accessibility tour, recommended for visitors of all ages with vision loss, hearing impairment, or any other physical or social challenges. Led by an art professional, who will be speaking with a microphone, and accompanied by both a visual description guide and an ASL interpreter, this tour is designed to welcome all audiences to experience visual arts.

The tour will guide visitors through The Lind Prize 2019. This exhibition features 11 emerging artists from British Columbia who specialise in photography, film, or video. One of these artists has been awarded the Lind Prize for 2019, a prize awarded annually to an emerging artist.

To join the tour, meet on the 2nd floor at 10.50am. The tour will last approximately 1 hour.

Arriving to The Polygon Gallery
The Polygon Gallery’s address is 101 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver. The Gallery opens at 10am, and is wheelchair accessible.

In partnership with VocalEye, Sighted Guides will be available to meet those with vision loss (age 18 and over) at the Seabus Terminal in North Vancouver, and at the bus stop outside The Polygon Gallery, and will accompany them to and from The Polygon Gallery. To arrange a Sighted Guide meet-up, please contact VocalEye Volunteer Coordinator at least 72 hours in advance of the tour date by emailing buddies@vocaleye.ca.

About Access Awareness
Celebrated annually on the first Saturday in June, Access Awareness Day is a comprehensive campaign to raise awareness about disability, accessibility, and inclusion. It is a call to respond creatively and purposefully to build a society where barriers to inclusion are removed, and to ensure the independence, self-esteem, dignity, and security of all citizens.
