How much does Deckchair Cinema cost to attend?
Admission to Deckchair is by donation and includes popcorn as well as access to The Polygon Gallery’s exhibitions. Suggested donation is $10-$20.

Can I bring my own food and alcohol?
Yes, and we also have a concession that sells beer and snacks. Nook is onsite every evening offering their full menu.

Where are the washrooms?
Inside The Polygon Gallery. We keep the ground floor washrooms open until well after the film ends.

When should I show up?
The gates open at 7:00pm, live entertainment starts around 8:00pm, and the films start at sunset.

When do the movies start?
The films start at sunset. The start times change throughout the summer as it gets darker earlier.

What if I don’t have a chair?
No problem. We have chairs and mats you can use.

Can I reserve seats?
Yes, you can reserve seats or a picnic table by making a donation in advance.

What happens if it rains?
The show must go on! If it rains, we’ll show the film inside the Gallery. If you reserve seats and don’t wish to attend due to the rain, we are happy to move your seats to a different screening.

Can I bring my dog?
Yes, just make sure they’re well-behaved and that you clean up after them. We have treats and water bowls available. Our Bring Your Dog to the Movie night is on July 16, for Best in Show.

Is bicycle parking available?
There are plenty of bicycle racks located around the Shipyards and Lonsdale Quay. We recommend locking up at one of the sidewalk racks along Carrie Cates court, to keep the Deck clear.

Accessibility?
There are two accessible washrooms located on the ground floor of The Polygon Gallery. We reserve a small section of armless TUCK chairs for accessible seating. Ask our staff to point you in the right direction, or seat yourself.

Are the movies subtitled?
Subtitles will be available on a secondary screen for films on the following dates: July 16, July 30, August 6, and August 13.

On-screen subtitles will be available on June 25.

A lot of the films we’re showing are also available on the Subtitles Viewer app.

Are Deckchair Cinema and Sunset Cinema the same thing?
Nope! Deckchair Cinema on Cates Deck is brought to you by The Polygon Gallery. Sunset Cinema is organized by the City of North Vancouver and takes place in the Shipyards on Wednesdays. You can find out more about Sunset Cinema here.
