Job Opportunity: Development Coordinator, Membership And Annual Giving

The Polygon Gallery exhibits photography and media art, emphasizing contemporary Canadian work within the context of historical and international art. Operating as Presentation House Gallery for forty years, the organization has presented more than 300 exhibitions, earning a reputation as one of Canada’s most adventurous public art institutions.

The organization is now open as The Polygon Gallery in its greatly expanded, highly anticipated new facility at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver, BC. It occupies a purpose-built space in a high-traffic location on the waterfront.

Applicants are invited for the newly-created position of Development Coordinator, Membership and Annual Giving. Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, this person will support The Polygon’s cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship needs for its Members and Annual Fund donors. The position is focused primarily on using the Raiser’s Edge database in effective and efficient ways to expand philanthropic support and visitor awareness, to advance The Polygon’s mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

Process Memberships and donations, including entering information into the Raiser’s Edge database, as well as producing tax receipts and Member fulfillment packages.

Ensure completion of regular data maintenance duties and collaborate with the Senior Development Manager to develop and maintain procedures that ensure the integrity of donor data.

Run queries and reports from the database.

Develop internal operating procedures and written end user instructions for Raiser’s Edge. Train and notify staff of changes to data entry and operational policies and procedures, and provide ongoing technical assistance.

Work closely with the Senior Development Manager to develop and implement strategies for meeting annual revenue targets for Membership and Annual Donations, including direct mail campaigns.

Assist with the implementation of Member promotions and special events.

Track and produce reports of daily revenue and attendance figures.

Other administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years proven experience with the Raiser’s Edge database or other fundraising database, ideally in a gallery, museum, cultural, tourism or hospitality environment.

Excellent attention to detail.

Excellent computer skills, including word processing and data entry.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Excellent verbal and writing skills.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience with the development and implementation of Membership and Individual Giving campaigns is an asset.

Work Schedule

Three days per week, with a fourth day on occasional weeks as required by The Polygon. Two days must fall between Monday and Wednesday, with the other day(s) flexible and to be determined upon discussion with the Senior Development Manager.
