The Polygon Gallery is proud to be hosting the regular program – Kids First Saturdays. Join us on the first Saturday of every month for hands-on creative activities. Visit the Gallery, explore the artworks, and participate in activities that lead to deeper engagement with art and creativity.
As a regular Kids First visitor, you will always be greeted with new and exciting methods of creative play, encouraging experimentation with various media and materials.
Saturday, February 1, 11am – 3pm
Elizabeth Zvonar is a Vancouver-based artist that has produced large scale murals in the second-floor galleries as a way of experimenting with the removal and hiding of evocative images in the production of large-scale collages.
By using these same techniques, we will explore negative space while creating small, mixed media sculptures by cutting and pasting a few pictures that are found in various mass-market magazines. In other words, these flat images will be glued to 3d structures built of craft sticks and cardboard, so that they can be looked at from different angles as a way of changing the meaning depending on your point of view.
Kids 12 and under are required to bring a parent or caretaker to attend the program. While activities are geared towards children aged 6-12, all are welcome to join and participate.
