The Polygon Gallery is proud to be hosting the regular program – Kids First Saturdays. Join us on the first Saturday of every month for hands-on creative activities. Visit the Gallery, explore the artworks, and participate in activities that lead to deeper engagement with art and creativity.
As a regular Kids First visitor, you will always be greeted with new and exciting methods of creative play, encouraging experimentation with various media and materials.
Mark your 2019 calendar for the first Saturday of each month!
November 2 Activity
Through the exploration of film, performance and storytelling, Wael Shawky creates video works that look at cultural and artistic identities in different ways. With this in mind, we will be creating hinged shadow puppets using cardboard, paper fasteners and wooden dowels, so that visitors, of all ages, will be able to put together moveable characters that can be manipulated in a makeshift shadow puppet theatre. Parents are encouraged to bring their cell phones along, to document the performances through short video clips.
December 7 Activity: stay tuned for details to come
Good to know
Kids 12 and under are required to bring a parent or caretaker to attend the program.
Activities are geared towards ages 6-12, however all are welcome to join and participate.
